Changing the Relationship Game:
Hey, you fabulous humans! Welcome back to One Happy Lime, where we squeeze the zestiest bits of life, love, and everything in between. 🍋 Today, we’re diving into a topic that’s hotter than your favorite summer playlist—changing family dynamics for millennial's. You might want to grab a snack, because this one’s gonna be juicy!
Let’s be real—there’s been a lot of buzz about being single by choice. It’s like the new avocado toast—everyone’s talking about it, and some are even living it. But there’s also that age-old narrative floating around that your life isn’t truly complete until you’ve found your "one true love". Sounds a bit like the plot of every rom-com ever, right?
But here’s the twist—our generation isn’t exactly following the script. We’ve noticed a rise in loneliness, yes, but we’re not just sitting around swiping through dating apps like it’s our job (even though it sometimes feels like it). Nope, we’re putting in the work. We’re in therapy, we’re healing, and we’re making sure we don’t drag our past baggage into our future relationships. We’re basically like Marie Kondo-ing our emotional live; if it doesn’t spark joy, it’s outta here!
Now, I can only speak from my own experience—and trust me, I’ve got some good relationship role models. My parents have been married for over 40 years. Yep, you heard that right—four decades of “for better or worse,” “in sickness and in health,” and “Who left the toilet seat up again?!” My husband’s parents were also married until the passing of his father last year. So, yeah, I’ve seen firsthand that it’s possible to stick it out and make things work.
But here’s where I draw the line: the 3 A’s—Abuse, Addiction, & Adultery. Nope, nope, and nope. 🚫 I’m all about love and forgiveness, but there’s a limit to how much lime juice you can squeeze before it’s all pulp and no fun. Look There is no judgment here. Some people can tolerate those things, but not this lime. That’s a hard pass.
This brings us to the million-dollar question: Do we give up on people too easily these days? Are we expecting perfection in relationships, like we’re searching for the one perfect avocado at the grocery store? 🥑 (And let’s be honest, that’s a full-time job on its own.) Or are we starting to value our platonic friendships more than our romantic ones?
Now, here’s a gem of wisdom from my mom that I’m passing on to you: “Some years you fall in love, and some years you fall out of love.” Relationships aren’t always a walk in the park—sometimes, they’re more like a hike up a mountain with no cell service and a questionable trail map. 🏔️ But that’s okay! We all have flaws, and it’s not wise to go into a relationship expecting to change someone. Find someone who’s on the same page as you, and build a life together—flaws, quirks, and all.
And let’s not forget—arguments aren’t always a bad thing. It took me some time to learn that every fight does not mean the end, rather the beginning of understanding. Sometimes, they’re just a spicy conversation with a side of personal growth. 🌶️ If you’re really listening to your partner’s needs, and they’re listening to yours, you’ll come out stronger on the other side. Remember, you deserve love in all its forms, and it’s perfectly okay if you choose to be single. Life is about living your truth, finding your happiness, and spreading those positive vibes like confetti. 🎉
