Hello, lovely readers! 🌿
Let’s talk about something I’ve grown to cherish: lazy days. You know, those days when you do absolutely nothing and feel completely guilt-free about it. If you’re like me, juggling life as a wife, parent, worker, pet mom, and plant mom, you know how hectic things can get. That’s why I’ve come to realize that the best reward I can give myself is a day dedicated to rest.
But here’s the thing: it’s not just about resting; it’s about resting without guilt. For the longest time, I had this nagging feeling that I should be doing something productive, even on my days off. But that mindset? It’s exhausting. So, I’ve decided to change it. This is the habit I want to gift myself: guilt-free lazy days.
Making the Small Things Big
One of my favorite writers once said they wanted to make the big things small and the small things big in their stories. That hit home for me because, honestly, that’s how I see life. It’s the small moments that truly make life beautiful. Those little pauses where you can just be.
So, let me share with you what my perfect lazy day looks like. It might just inspire you to create your own.

My Ideal Lazy Day
Step 1: Allow Yourself the Day
First, it all starts with a decision. Since I usually get two days off, I’ve decided that one of them is going to be my “do nothing” day. Laundry? Ignored. Meal planning? Not today. My hubby and kids can figure it out. This day is all about me.
Step 2: Morning Meditation & Gratitude
My lazy day begins with some morning meditation on the deck. There’s something so peaceful about starting the day surrounded by nature, just breathing and being in the moment. After that, I grab my gratitude journal and jot down everything I’m thankful for. It’s a small practice but makes a huge difference in my mindset. And then… back to bed! No alarms, just pure relaxation.
Step 3: The Everything Shower
I wake up around 10-ish, feeling refreshed and ready for an everything shower. You know, the kind where you use all those new skincare products you’ve been hoarding? I’m a bit of a product junkie, so this is my time to indulge. It’s a little ritual that makes me feel pampered and renewed.
Step 4: A Simple & Refreshing Lunch
For lunch, I keep it simple. Maybe a smoothie or a big iceberg wedge with avocado dressing and some pickled toppings—something light and refreshing. Then, it’s time to stream and chill. I catch up on my favorite shows or find a movie to get lost in. Pure bliss.
Step 5: Ending the Day with Family
I love ending my lazy day with some quality family time. We might play a game together or just listen to music and relax. These moments, these small things, are what make life so good.
The Small Things Make Life
So there you have it, my ideal lazy day. It’s all about taking time for myself, recharging, and appreciating the little things. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life is made up of these small moments. And when we make them big, they become the best memories.
